Panel with Studio Babelsberg

As part of a panel discussion, Katja Hörstmann and Lukas Kaddik offered insights into the work of Studio Babelsberg as a production company for international film and television projects, as well as a full-service studio facility.

Founded in 1912, Babelsberg is regarded as the world’s oldest large-scale film studio and one of Europe’s most significant filmmaking centres. From the silent era through the UFA and DEFA years to today’s major international productions, the studio has continuously evolved and now forms part of global production structures.

Since the 1990s, Studio Babelsberg has increasingly established itself as an international hub. Productions such as The Hunger Games, Inglourious Basterds, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Bridge of Spies stand as prominent examples of this development.
